With over two decades of experience at the highest level of the hospitality industry, Angus's first job was in a local family bakery. As soon as he was 18 he started working in bars in his home city of Edinburgh before moving to Aberdeen where he gained a degree in hospitality management. It was during this time that Angus found his love for cocktails, thanks to a six-month placement in Jasper, Canada.
After his studies, Angus traveled the world, working his way through multiple areas of the industry as he went. He gathered as much experience and insight as possible before returning to Scotland where just a few years later he founded The Liquidstate.
In 2006 Angus made a move to Dubai where he opened, operated and consulted on numerous projects including 360degrees at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Raffles Hotel, Hakkasan and more. Further to this, he worked on projects in Bahrain, Thailand, India, and China.
Angus's commitment to the industry has not gone unnoticed. He has competed in and won numerous cocktail competitions over the past decades including World Class 2013 where he placed in the top 10 globally. He has been nominated for bartender of the year in both the UK and UAE, has helped clients gain industry recognised awards and has helped over 300 students to gain their wines and spirits education trust accreditations, of which he is a certified trainer.
